Christ United Methodist Church in Toledo Hosts Bible Trivia Night
Christ United Methodist Church in Toledo recently received a grant of $255 from the Northeast District to address hunger and poverty in our community. Some people from the church decided to use that money as seed money to raise more money. They decided to host a Bible Trivia Night and invited churches from all over Tama County to participate. The winning church would receive all the money that was raised to donate to a poverty and hunger ministry of their choice within Tama County.
The event was held on Saturday, March 14 at the Reinig Center in Toledo. Seven teams participated including teams from Christ United Methodist Church in Toledo, First Presbyterian Church in Toledo, Tama Meskwaki Celebration Assembly of God in Tama, St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama, St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Tama, Grace Believers Church in Toledo, and Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Gladbrook.
Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Gladbrook won the night with a perfect score of 1000 points. They designated the Northwest Tama County Food Pantry to receive the money which totaled over $500.
Christ United Methodist Church would like to congratulate Chapel United Methodist Church and would like to thank all who participated and helped with the event and the Northeast District for the grant. (Submitted by Rev. Brian Oliver; photo by Nancy Smith, used with permission)
(The NE District selected 12 churches to receive $255 grants in a random drawing. These grants were to address hunger or poverty in local communities. We encouraged churches to multiply the grant dollars and to be creative. We celebrate the ways NE Iowa congregations transform the world, beginning in their own neighborhoods.)
