Merry Christmas in Lamont

MERRY CHRISTMAS IN LAMONT
Children in this northeast Iowa town of about 500 people are growing into respectful and healthy adults thanks in part to the Lamont Kids’ Center. The adjoining photograph is from a Christmas party thrown for participants. This outreach ministry of Grace United Methodist Church and the Lamont community offers a safe, supervised environment for youth based on Christian principles. Kids have fun, learn about healthy living, exercise in the fitness center, help with the community garden, build relationships with older adults, and give back to the community.
“The Lamont Kid’s Center,” their mission statement says, “strives through our mentoring, activities and programming to instill the core values of good character, trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship in our area youth, providing a solid foundation for our youth to develop spiritually, physically, socially and mentally into healthy, caring adults.”
Since its inception in 2005 the Kids’ Center has expanded its ministries and is working toward becoming self-supporting. Thanks to your apportionment dollars that fund Matthew 25 grants, this ministry is changing the lives of children in Lamont. You can learn more about it at www.lamontkidscenter.org.
