Bidwell Riverside

January 31, 2010 — Bidwell Riverside Center
If you stop at Bidwell Riverside Center on the south side of Des Moines on any given day, you will find a place bustling with activity. In their main building you will find their offices. There you will hear the sound of children playing and learning, where the Early Childhood Development Center will be working with children ages 18 months to five years of age to prepare them to be successful when they enter school.
If you go to their Direct Services Building you will see someone getting the needed information from people who are coming to ask for help through our Emergency Food Pantry or our Used Clothing Center. And you will find someone sacking the groceries to give to people who need that help. Volunteers will be working to sort clothing and hang them in our clothing center where people can choose what they need.
The mission of Bidwell Riverside Center is to provide services to individuals and families which will meet immediate needs and to work in cooperation with those persons and the community to develop programs and policies which will promote continual improvement in their lives. Bidwell Riverside Center is related to the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church. Visit their Web site at www.bidwellriverside.org for more information.
