Re-direct, re-think, and re-source are ideas leading the work here at the GC2012 over the past few days. We have been working very hard while also seeking moments to renew our physical bodies. I have found my Legislative Section titled "Superintendancy" to be sometimes emotionally difficult, but always a joyful work. Many of the relationships made within this diverse delegation will be long lasting and have provided me personally with a broadening of my vision and focus as a United Methodist.
A couple of truths I have found holding true here at General Conference are:
1. Nothing can seperate us from God's love. And nothing means nothing.
2. There is always another path, when the one before us appears closed.
3. God works through our times of confusion and feelings of loss at least as effeciently and powerfully as through our times of clarity and alignment.
I hold these truths close to my heart as I consider the decisions already made, some of which may feel quite troubling . Today we are working to bring a new structure to the UMC which can offer a useful path into the future. I invite you to continue in your prayers for the people of God called United Methodist as your Iowa delegation continues in its faithful work on your behalf.
