Pastor Leadership Development Experience to Malawi Africa
June 23 - July 6, 2011
God is moving in a mighty way in third-world countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America and South America. Christianity and the UMC is growing rapidly in all of these areas. It has been estimated that at the next UMC General Conference for the first time there will be more delegates from outside the U.S. than from the U.S. For UMC Pastors who want to experience the cutting edge of what God is doing in the UMC in these countries, then please plan to join this Pastor leadership development experience. This experience has been approved for 2.0 CEUs.
Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world, yet it is not wore-torn and very civil. The people are simply incredible, as Malawi is known internationally as the "Warm Heart of Africa." Despite their poverty, the UMC in Malawi is exploding in growth. In 1998 the UMC in Malawi had a few churches and today it has over 150 churches, 20,000 members, 22 pastoral circuits with any where between 5 and 22 churches per pastor, and in the last twelve months alone they have opened 39 new churches.
This trip will deepen your theological perspectives and re-energize your heart as a Pastor for Christ. It will fill you will new ideas and energy from the Holy Spirit and allow you to bring back ideas that can rekindle the fire in your local congregation. In addition to this leadership development experience for Pastors, you can also invite your congregation to join the VIM trip. The VIM team will travel with the Pastors, but it will be on separate missions while in Malawi.
Please read the attached document and let Pastor Mike Gudka know if you are interested. His church number is 319-342-2208, cell number is 319-415-4133, and his email address is pastormikegudka@aol.com.
