This again has been a very busy week attending meetings! I have met with many Long Term Recovery Committees/Coalitions in several counties and I continue to attend as many meetings as I am able. This allows me to keep up to date on what is happening with tornado/flood recovery and to keep an ear open as to how the United Methodist Church can be responsive in storm recovery. It is reassuring that there are many county Long Term Committees/Coalitions dedicated to getting their communities back together and a lot of United Methodist pastors working hard to take care of not only their congregants but their communities.
Across the state we can be supportive in many ways:
1. Prayer.
2. volunteers!! 1.877.393.1607. (I can't say it enough).
3. monetary donations or consider "adopting" a family for Christmas.
And 4.
DON'T let the storms of 2008 become history too soon - remember it will take years to recover!
