Director of Recovery - Storms of 2008!
More traveling this week for me! I am so blessed to have the opportunity to meet such awesome people who are doing awesome things for storm recovery in the name of Jesus! I was also blessed to have Christy Smith with me from UMCOR this week.
There is an upcoming volunteer opportunity that you may want to prayerfully consider: Linn County Long Term Recovery Committee and UMCOR will be providing Case Management Training in the near future. A firm date has not been set, but as soon I as I have a date and a location, I will send out notification. Right now we are looking at the first part of December. This is an opportunity to work one on one with flood survivors and also a good opportunity for those who are retired or individuals who feel as though they are not physically able to do the construction rehab. Please note that this is not just for individuals in Linn County as there is also a need in most counties that were flooded. If you have any questions, please contact me for information.
Another appeal I have been asked to include in this email comes from Dan Kittle.
Dan is the Long Term Recovery Committee Chairperson for Bremer County. In Bremer County they are in need of a writing/communications director and a construction manager. If you are retired, in between jobs, or just need to find your niche as a volunteer in flood recovery contact Dan Kittle, Wartburg College at 319-352-8701 or cce@wartburgedu.
One last thing - please remember we need volunteers. Please consider organizing a team to come to Eastern Iowa this summer for a mission trip. We need volunteers in many towns along the storm zone. Have your group leader go to the United Methodist Conference website and click on volunteer opportunities or contact Carma, our volunteer coordinator for Eastern Iowa at 1-877-393-1607.
