Greetings from the Dir. of Recovery! Two items I want to highlight this week:
Dan and Jean Houstin, Pastor Melisa Bracht-Wagner, Pam Griffen and I met with representatives of the Black Hawk Long Term Recovery Committee in Waterloo this week to discuss the assignment of volunteers in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Area. We came to a consensus that Black Hawk County does not need us to schedule teams of volunteers for the spring and summer. They would prefer that we assign specialty teams on an as needed basis. They will contact Melisa if they are in need of volunteers to do more specialized rebuilding; such as hanging cupboards, installing windows, etc. and she will assign volunteers depending on what she has available at the time of the request.
We are still in need of electricians and plumbers in Cedar Rapids. All volunteers must hold a current professional license and also register with the City of Cedar Rapids. There is no cost associated with registering in Cedar Rapids and the Flood Recovery Office located at First UMC in Marion can help you obtain the necessary documentation to be registered. Call Pastor Melisa at 877-393-1607 if are able to volunteer some of your time!
We still need volunteer teams for May and August! You can register online at the Iowa Annual Conference Website or you can call 877-393-1607.
Have a fantastic week!
