Greetings from the Dir. of Recovery,
I don't have a lot of new news to share this week. Volunteers continue to arrive and the rebuild process is in full swing. Please remember Pastor Bob Voels and the congregation of Trinity UMC of Cedar Rapids in your prayers this week, as they begin the demolition process of their sanctuary.
And from Pastor Melisa Bracht-Wagner this week:
PLEASE PASS THE WORD! REBUILD HOMES ARE NEEDED. Why? There might be a clog in the Linn Co. Coalition with sorting through files. We have been working within the system and we will continue, but we need to find our own rebuild projects. How can you help? Ask your congregations - who do you know that needs help with rebuilds?
What makes our week go well? If we have a dedicated runner each day. We have runners (gophers) on Tuesday and Thursday. However, if we have gophers each day - Curt, the project manager, can work on homes doing estimates and problem solving instead of assisting teams each moment. If you have someone in your congregation that can adopt a week or a day or a month to gather things and take them here and there, that would make our life better.
Please continue to recruit teams especially for September. We have lots of open projects in June and July to keep teams busy. In September we will need teams to finish the work in those homes.
Please pray for the interviews that will be happening this Saturday afternoon. Becky, Curt and I will be interviewing 7 people for 2 intern positions. May God show us the ones who have been called to this intense ministry.
Happy Holy Week - Rev. Melisa Bracht-Wagner
That's all for this week from the Storm Recovery Team - have a wonderful Easter.
