Annual Conference Last Minute Reminders!
Remember to have your photo taken for the new Clergy Directory! Photographers will be in the Scheman Building, Room 275 at the following times:
Thursday: 11:00 am – 6:30 pm
Friday: 9:00 am – 7:00 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
If you are attending the Clergy session, you can pick up a “sit card” that needs to be completed prior to being photographed. If you forget, there will be cards at the registration desk and at the photographers station.
We could still use volunteers on Thursday from 11:00 – 2:30 pm and Friday from 11:45 am – 3:15 pm to assist the photographers. Please contact darci.hartman@iaumc.org if you can help!
Everyone who is photographed will have their name placed in a drawing for a very nice digital camera, courtesy of Lifetouch!!! Remember that you will also receive your choice of a complimentary 8x10 or a sheet of wallet sized prints.
If you are interested in speaking with a representative from Lifetouch for your church directory, they will have a booth on the vendor level of Hilton for your convenience.
Great News!
The Midwest Mission Distribution Center
Comes through for Iowa”s “Fill the Truck” effort.
MMDC is sending a truck to the Iowa Annual Conference session to our mission materials. The truck will be available throughout the conference sessions to accept your donations. By providing the truck, MMDC has eliminated our transportation costs this year. The truck will be open and available to receive donations beginning at 7:30 each morning and throughout the days.
Warehouse supervisor Diane Walrath will be with the truck to facilitate packing and preparation for shipment. Diane is looking forward to meeting mission-minded Iowans who will stop by and say hello. Feel free to stop by and help her when you are available.
Warehouse Supervisor, DIANE WALRATH, began her mission work in her hometown of Chittenango, NY. She has also served in Mexico, Haiti, M.E.R.C.I. in North Carolina, and numerous other areas. Diane started at MMDC in 2005 as a volunteer and in 2008 the Board of Directors hired her as a full-time staff member.
Diane has one son and many grandkids. She and her dog, Stoney, live on-site of the MMDC campus.
Nursing Home Chaplaincy Information Sought
The Oskaloosa Area Association of Churches (OAAC), including Central United Methodist Church, is considering the possibility of establishing a shared chaplaincy serving 6-7 area nursing homes and assisted living facilities. If any communities are served by such a chaplaincy, OAAC would be interested in learning more about job descriptions, hours, by-laws, funding, other hurdles, etc. If you have information to share, please contact:
