Volunteers are needed for the Iowa State Fair
We are once again recruiting volunteers for this year’s booth in the Varied Industries Building at the Iowa State Fair. This year’s Fair runs from August 13th to August 23rd. There are 3 shifts per day (9:00 am – 1:00 pm; 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm; and 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm) and we need a maximum of 4 volunteers per shift. We will provide an admission ticket to the fair and an I-Camp t-shirt will be provided when you arrive for your shift. We love it when our pastors volunteer, but ask that you have a back-up to fill in for you in case an emergency arises so we are not short on volunteers.
Our emphasis this year is on Camping, and the tattoos are back this year! so you are practically guaranteed a fun-filled 4 hour shift! The only thing we ask of our volunteers is that they provide radical hospitality to those stopping in and passing by our booth. Camps is giving away a free week at camp to someone, so we will be collecting names to draw from during the Fair.
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Darci Hartman at Darci.hartman@iaumc.org . Shifts will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. We are always excited when we have a group that can fill the entire day (12 people), so if you have a youth group, Bible Study group, UMW, UMM group who would like to adopt a day, let us know!!
FIT T-Shirt Orders
If you would like to order a FIT T-shirt and didn’t have the chance to do so at Annual Conference, there is still time to do this! Order forms can be downloaded from our website, or by clicking here. The form states to bring to the Gold Room, but please mail your orders to: IAUMC, 2301 Rittenhouse Street, Des Moines IA 50321-3101. Make checks payable to IAUMC. We ask that all orders are received by June 30, 2009 so that we can then place the order for all shirts.
DVD and CD Orders from Annual Conference
If you are interested in purchasing DVD’s or CD’s from this year’s Annual Conference, you still have time! Again, the order form states to return to the Gold Room, but please submit your order to: IAUMC, 2301 Rittenhouse Street, Des Moines IA 50321-3101. The Order Form can be downloaded on our website, or by clicking on this link.
Does Your Church Need a New Loan or to Refinance an Existing One?
The Iowa United Methodist Church Building Fund Trust makes loans to local churches for the purposes of building new buildings, renovation or additions to existing facilities, repairs, purchasing land or even buying a parsonage. The Trust also has refinancing options for high-interest loans.
