Iowa Conference News
Do we or do we not have financial support?
For Doris David, Francis Adamu and Jacob Tahiru, Nigerians in their second year of college study at Africa University in Mutare, Zimbabwe, the past several days have been hectic. The three youth completed their first year of study in mid May and were given a job at the university working in the library and computer in exchange for meals. Thinking that if they had a high enough GPA and if they requested financial aid their second year financial support would be guaranteed. NOT! Their GPA was acceptable but the number of students requesting financial assistance didn’t include all those who requested help.
So, a flurry of e-mails has been going from Zimbabwe to Iowa to Nigeria to see how these deserving students can continue their higher education at Africa University. Doris David was assured help from Iowa as several persons have specifically supported her. What about Francis and Jacob? They are asking, “Do we or do we not have financial support?” Should they return to Nigeria with uncompleted courses of study? Should the Iowa Conference continue their support of these young men?
Knowing that these students will make a difference in Nigeria after completing their quality Christian education and much prayer, the Iowa Nigeria Partnership has agreed to pay their first semester tuition and school fees with the family to pay for their food and second semester tuition. Funds are needed to cover the first semester fees or $2,050 for each of them. Contributions may be made through your local church designated INP #230, Africa University.

Nehemiah Looking For Adult Work Teams
This year The Nehemiah Mission of Cleveland has hosted over 600 mission guests, completing > 70 projects, and hosted 2 weeks of Vacation Bible School. Most teams come over the summer months. The mission is however a twelve month facility with many requests for help.
Currently, we have requests for 4 wheelchair ramps, 2 homes that need serious interior work, an inner city church with multiple needs, and a home on the west side of Cleveland that is being rehabbed to become an annex of the Nehemiah Mission for additional mission team housing. We are also partnering with The Harp Mission to help distribute personal hygiene kits, clothes and furniture.
The Nehemiah Mission is asking for adult work teams to consider week long mission trips during the months of September through May.
For more information or to make arrangements for your trip visit www.nehemiahmission.org or call the mission director; Jim Szakacs at 440-263-8125.
