Greetings from the Dir. of Recovery,
SOLD! I am excited to report that Block by Block sold the first home we purchased and rebuilt; and as of this week, our 2nd! Our goal of revitalizing neighborhoods continues to move forward. Rev. Beth Straw, St. James UMC, shared with me yesterday that folks are sharing with her that on one side of the church houses are being torn down and it's sad to watch; but if you look on the other side of the church, Block by Block is bringing back the neighborhood and they are happy to see the progress!
WAREHOUSE! Last week Block by Block has negotiated a lease for warehouse and office space. If you come to volunteer supplies will be available at the warehouse, which is centrally located in the flood zone. Which means less trips to get supplies - YEA!
SPRING! As the warm weather comes, so do the volunteers! Over the next six months we will have hundreds of volunteers. We are no longer taking teams for June and July, but have a need for August-October. Call 1-877-393-1607 to get signed up. Come and see the awesome progress we've made in Cedar Rapids.
