August 19-20 - Bertram Homecoming Day Events
The Linn County community of Bertram will host their 2017 Homecoming Day Saturday, August 19 in the Bertram City Park. A potluck lunch and children's activities will be part of the fun, 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Neighbors are invited to bring a favorite snack or dessert to share for the free potluck lunch. Sandwiches, chips, baked beans, soft-serve ice cream and drinks will be provided. Family activities in the afternoon include face painting and artist/entertainer "Papa Balloon," popular events from previous years. Residents can also learn about the new Bertram disc golf course. The course in nearby High Point Nature Park has proven popular with area golfers since its completion a few months ago.
Neighbors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and meet others in the Bertram community. Previous residents and those with "Bertram roots" are especially encouraged to attend. The weekend events will conclude with another tradition, Worship in the Park. Everyone is invited to take part in an open-air service with Bertram UM Church members in the park, 10:30 AM Sunday, August 20.
All events are free, with donations welcome to fund events and food. The yearly event was recently revived from a town tradition going back more than a century. The church and city leaders co-host festivities each year as a community service.
