The Season of Creation began 15 years ago in Australia and is now celebrated around the world, ecumenically and in many faith communities, with support from both the National and World Councils of Churches. It began September 1st with the Day of Prayer for Creation and ends with the Feast of St. Francis on October 4th.

You are invited to the second year of the Des Moines Area Season of Creation Celebrations – four Tuesdays in September and a special worship service on October 3 (the Eve of St. Francis) at 7 p.m. sponsored by the Interfaith Green Coalition, Iowa Interfaith Power and Light and the Center for Social Ministry.

We are not separate from the rest of creation. In nourishing ourselves through healthy food choices we are also caring for the Earth, building community and supporting local economies. This year’s gatherings invite this holistic focus on the care of creation.
