McKendree UMC in downtown Nashville, Tennessee is one of the oldest churches in the area, destined like many churches of its age and location for decline and eventual death ---- but that is not the story of McKendree. A transforming vital spirit and focus is being experienced there – in its outreach to the “displaced” (homeless), in its sense of new-found identity and resulting everyday life, in people each week coming forward in worship to profess a new commitment of faith in Christ. So what’s making the difference for McKendree and other churches who, like them, are experiencing a brighter new vitality? This is the question our Iowa Conference Ministry Cabinet is wrestling with right now, and one in which we invite you to participate by joining us in one of the upcoming Stirrings on the Road District Coffees.
