2008 Annual Conference Registration

Since today is March 29, apparently it is too late to register online, since when I access the registration page, there's nothing there about registration except this 'post a comment' option. Good luck with the rest of the conference.

Can anyone explain to me why the Iowa Annual Conference has hired a Leadership Development Minister (LDM) for Social Justice and Missions AND an Interim Legistative Advocate? The news release about who has been hired for both of these positions came out this week. The LDM is in The Reporter and the Legislative Advocate in the weekly up dates? Are these not suppose to be one position under the LDM for Social Justice and Missions?

Tenebrae Suggestions for Holy Week

Dave Smith wrote on 3/17/2008 2:13:25 PM

I was hoping to find resources for developing a Tenebrae Church bulletin. I would like to have found some text to include at the first part of the bulletin that explains the service. I would also like to have had more than a two line "greeting" or call to worship. If we don't use any hymns or communion serivce, our bulletin is going to be a little slim.

I am grateful for a tangible connection between our churches. I believe it is too easy to assume that because something was posted on-line that all view it. Thank you for the time effort and conferencing this will encourage. Ted Stowers

New Comtemporary Music and Worship Listserv

Eveline A. Will wrote on 2/29/2008 3:06:12 PM

I enjoy immensely the Rausch e-mails and learn a great deal from most all of them, despite we are a rural small church. It is truly a blessing to the music/worship program.

United Methodists Seek Resources for Malaria Campaign

Praise God that there is possibility of this major linking between the United Methodist Church and the United Nations. Certainly we must use all means necessary to see that this Grant is successfully applied for and that the $5 million offered thru the Board of Global Ministries is made available to further strengthen our vital ministries in all the nations of pressing need, like Sri Lanka, Liberia, Kenya, Haiti, and similar nations who are battling for their very lives.

Mission Education

Karen Hansen wrote on 2/23/2008 11:59:18 AM

Larry Kies and his wife Jane are missionaries in Zimbabwe. He is originally from Jesup, IA. Our Walker church has had a Covenant Relationship with them for a long time. Every time they come back to the US, they come to our church to thank us for supporting them & telling us about their work. Who is coordinating their schedule when they are in Iowa? I have sent this message to Sue Hattel, but have received no reply. Is she not the person to contact? I would like to schedule a date before their schedule gets all filled up. Thanks.
