2012 Lenten Bible Study on Immigration now available for download
1/18/2012
Bishop Trimble, the Iowa Conference Immigration Task Force, and a special writing team led by Rev. Denny Coon and Rev. Roger Betsworth, have created a Lenten Bible Study on Immigration for local churches, small groups, and individuals to use for sparking conversations, intentional reflection, and outreach/relationship building with immigrants for Lent 2012 and beyond. The Bishop has also recorded an introduction about the study for you and your congregation to view. Please click here to watch the video.

Focused on themes of hospitality, welcoming strangers in our midst, and the importance of building meaningful relationships and ministries with new people in our communities, the six-week study explores biblical stories of immigration and connects scripture with personal narratives of recent immigrants from around the state. It offers questions to consider as well as activities and suggestions for ways to engage more deeply with the realities of immigration in your community and congregation.
The study was also published in three, two-lesson segments in The United Methodist Reporter beginning in January.
