2013 Annual Conference to be three-day event; Theme is "Imagine"

10/3/2012

The 2013 session of the Iowa Annual Conference will be three-day event, beginning Saturday morning, June 8, with scheduled adjournment at 5:30 pm on Monday, June 10.  The theme is “Imagine” with a dual focus - on the effort to eradicate Malaria and the creation of “New Places for New People.”

The Clergy Session will be held on the evening prior to the start of the Annual Conference session. The Clergy Session will meet from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm at the Iowa Events Center, which is the site of the Annual Conference.

Bishop Julius Calvin Trimble, Iowa’s United Methodist Resident Bishop, has announced that Bishop Sally Dyck, Bishop of the Chicago Area, has accepted his invitation to be the preacher for the Ordination Service, which is set for Sunday morning, June 9.

In part, the length of the Annual Conference session was reduced from four days to three to be “good stewards of our time and money as well as in response to suggestions received on the evaluations of the 2012 Conference Session.  This will make attendance easier for laypersons and reduce the costs of the session for both the Annual Conference and attendees,” said Rev. J Robert Burkhart, Assistant to the Bishop for Administration.
