    Welcome Gena Garber

    Gena Garber has joined the staff of the Iowa Annual Conference as its new Director of Human Resources. She began on November 2, 2009.
     
    A graduate of the University of Iowa, with a degree in accounting, she has worked as an auditor with Arthur Andersen, NeoData, and Maytag. She moved into Human Resources in 1997 as a recruiter and then spent several years as an HR generalist for different departments within Maytag Appliances, including corporate training department.
     
    She moved to Skiff Medical Center in 2004 as the director of human resources, supporting all aspects of human resources from recruiting and retention to compensation and benefits. 
     
    A native of Burlington, IA, Gena is married to Rob. They are parents of “three beautiful children who keep us busy,” she said. “Katie is 8 (3rd grade), Daniel will be 7 in a couple of weeks (1st grade) and Sarah is 3. We live on a small acreage between Baxter and Newton where we spend a lot of time outdoors and in the garden.” Describing her hobbies, she said, “I have always enjoyed creative outlets and my current passion is digital scrapbooking.  I like to design page layouts, scrapbooks, and photo books.  I am starting to get more interested in photography, but I have only so much time!”
     
    Looking at the role of Director of Human Resource, Gena added, “I enjoy assisting others in solving problems, making work enjoyable and helping everyone feel that their work has purpose.”
