Bishop announces Conference Superintendents: Weesner to lead Central District; Lippincott to continue in the Northeast District

The Rev. David Weesner will become Superintendent of the Central District and the Rev. Anne Lippincott will continue as Superintendent of Northeast District. The appointments, announced by Bishop Julius Calvin Trimble, Resident Bishop of the Iowa Area, become effective July 1, 2010.
“Dave Weesner brings the evangelical passion for Christ and the love of reaching out beyond the walls of the church that is needed at this time of our witness in Iowa,” Bishop Trimble noted. “Dave’s leadership in the greater Council Bluffs area includes collaborative involvement with both clergy and laity and leading the Salem United Methodist Church in outreach to the marginalized. He is an excellent preacher and teacher. Dave, and his wife Cheryl, will be involved in the 2010 UMW School of Christian Mission. I believe he is ‘unapologetically Christian and unashamedly United Methodist.’ He brings the leadership skills and energy needed for the work as a Conference Superintendent. I am pleased that after prayerful reflection with his family he accepted my invitation.”
Reacting to the appointment, Weesner said,”I’m excited about the possibilities of working with the churches and people of the Central District. I’m looking forward supporting and providing leadership for new and exciting ministries on the District, and beyond. I’m filled with hope about what God has done and will do as we reach out, together, in concerned service to the world.”
Rev. Weesner is currently the Senior Pastor of Salem United Methodist Church in Council Bluffs, a position he has held for ten years. Prior to that appointment he was Pastor of Belle Plaine, Associate Pastor for Faith: Humboldt-Rutland-Gilmore City-Bradgate and the Corydon Parish. He was ordained as an Elder and granted Full Membership in the Annual Conference in 1992.

He succeeds the Rev. Dr. Wesley S. K. Daniel, who has served as the Central District Superintendent for the past six years and will be appointed to the West Des Moines United Methodist Church as Senior Pastor, effective July 1.  Of his time on the Appointive Cabinet Bishop Trimble said, "Dr. Daniel has served with distinction for the past six years."
Lippincott to continue on the Cabinet

Rev. Anne Lippincott, Conference Superintendent of the Northeast District, will continue to be a member of the Bishop’s Appointive Cabinet, serving at the invitation of the Bishop for a seventh year in that role. She is currently the Dean.
“I appreciate Anne’s commitment to serve where she is most needed,” said Bishop Trimble. “Her experience and leadership is essential as we press the envelope on mission outreach, as a Conference, and as the Cabinet is engaged in important work with the Board of Ordained Ministry, Ministry Cabinet and Parish Development Committee.”
“It is a privilege to serve as the Superintendent of the Northeast District,” Lippincott said. “It is a joy to work with the Bishop and Appointive Cabinet. I am looking forward to the exciting ministry possibilities that the future holds.”
