Attica Community and Church Suffer Tornado Damage

In what’s being called a tornado by mid-day newscasts, residents of the small town of Attica are just now beginning recovery efforts. Initial reports pinpoint the storm at about 5:15 am today (May 30).   Conference Superintendent for the South Central District of the Iowa Conference, Rev. Bill Poland, said that the Attica United Methodist Church sustained significant damage. Windows were blown out and it appears there is some damage to the roof. One wall of the parsonage is gone and the garage of the parsonage was destroyed.   Pastor Bud Lane confirmed that some of the members have been hospitalized, some treated and released, and others have lost their homes.   See the midday KCCI-TV report.
