Mel Kawakami, pastor of the Newtown United Methodist Church, offered a prayer over Strength for Service to God and Community, a devotional book for first responders that was created by the Genera Commission on United Methodist Men. Three of Newtown's first responders received copies during the April 28, 2013 worship service.
