Creation of Bishop’s Leadership Team
Are you a creative thinker? Do you seek the greater good of our connection? Are you interested in driving positive change and providing leadership through complex challenges? If so, we invite you to consider applying to be part of the Bishop’s Leadership Team.
In 2015, we launched the Bishop’s Operational Team to help shepherd the Iowa Conference in developing a healthier culture around our mission, vision, and strategic priorities. The members of this team developed child teams that focused on leadership, aligning resources around staffing and apportionments, and communities of faith. The lay and clergy members of this team over the last seven years have served us well in making significant changes within our conference and we give thanks for their time and energy as the work of the BOT concludes.
We find ourselves now in a new season, with a new episcopal leader, and the adaptive challenges we face have never been greater. This fall, Bishop Kennetha is forming the Bishop’s Leadership Team to support her as we develop our adaptive capacity within the annual conference and engender unity of purpose and focus around our mission statement: to inspire, equip, and connect communities of faith to cultivate world-changing disciples of Jesus Christ.
The Bishop’s Leadership Team will work with the bishop to address key adaptive questions that impact our ability to carry out our mission along with key stakeholders. This team will not focus on the technical work of the conference, but will go deep to discern new strategies: focusing on creativity, generative ideas, leaning into new ways of thinking and behaviors, and clarifying values.
We are seeking members for this team based on their gifts and graces. Team members must be spiritually centered, effective in their ministry, generative and creative in their thinking, curious, and able to hold the good of the whole at the center – rather than parochial or group interests. Members must also be able and willing to commit to a monthly in-person meeting.
