The Iowa Annual Conference is seeking candidates called and qualified to serve as Associate Directors of Congregational Excellence. The purpose of the Office of Congregational Excellence is to make God’s hope for the world real by preparing churches to multiply – that is to reach new people for Christ. To assist in making that purpose a reality, these persons will be coaches and consultants for congregations and build teams across the conference to assist congregations in their work.
Candidates should have a demonstrated history of growing and building ministries, training, and experience in coaching, consulting, building teams, congregational development, and have demonstrated the ability to guide people and organizations through adaptive challenges. They must be able to facilitate and coach churches in mission and vision, community outreach, staff development, strategic planning, single board accountability, discipleship pathways, behavioral covenants and other topics that may be necessary to facilitate the growth and be able to train and enable others to do so. The ability to relate to and work with different personalities and ability to work collaboratively with the Directors, Conference Superintendents, and local church leaders is required in this position. Associate Directors will be responsible for facilitating peer mentoring groups and for identifying and raising up leaders to lead those groups.
Qualified candidates must demonstrate familiarity with revitalization and leadership tools such as the Congregational Assessment Tool, Healthy Church Initiative, DISC, Natural Church Development and/or other similar assessment tools. Five years of experience in coaching, consulting, and/or leadership is required, and a master’s degree is preferred.
