The Conference Commission on Ministry with Persons with Disabilities encourages your church to celebrate Disability Awareness Sunday each year. Worship resources to assist you are included below. This Sunday invites our churches to celebrate the gifts and graces of persons with disabilities, and calls us to consider how we can better serve all people with Christ’s love and care. There is an Offering included with this Sunday, which goes to help the Commission give grants to churches who are working on projects to make their facilities more accessible. You won’t be receiving an envelope for this Offering this year (due to increased expenses), but we do appreciate your donations, as we receive no Apportionment funding.

Leader: We come together today as people with different skills and abilities.
People: We gather, however, as one body in Christ.
Leader: We ask God to help us be compassionate to others, as God has been compassionate towards us.
People: Bring us together in love and faith. Help us to welcome and honor everyone in this community.
Dear God, we come today to praise and worship You, Our Creator. We gather as a diverse family, with a variety of strengths and weaknesses, problems and gifts. We rejoice that we are all Your precious children, loved just the way we are. Teach us to love others as You have loved us. Amen.
Go forth in the strength of God’s love and God’s promise to bring wholeness and peace to a hurting world. May the blessings of the God who has wondrously made you, redeemed you, and sustains you day by day go with you wherever you go. Amen.
