Disabilities Awareness Sunday is one of five Special Sundays approved for Annual Conference offerings and is on the second Sunday in February.

The Iowa Annual Conference retains 100% of the offerings to provide educational opportunities and grants to local churches to remove barriers to accessibility.

This Special Sunday invites churches to celebrate the gifts and graces of persons with disabilities and calls us to consider how we can better serve all people with Christ’s love and care.

Thank you to all those churches who provide what is needed to see that everyone can participate fully in church activities!

You can also donate online to Disabilities Awareness Sunday.

Call to Worship

Leader: We come together today as people with different skills and abilities.
People: We gather, however, as one body in Christ.
Leader: We ask God to help us be compassionate to others, as God has been compassionate towards us.
People: Bring us together in love and faith. Please help us to welcome and honor everyone in this community.

Prayer

Dear God, we come today to praise and worship You, Our Creator. We gather as a diverse family with various strengths and weaknesses, problems, and gifts. We rejoice that we are all Your precious children, loved just the way we are. Teach us to love others as You have loved us. Amen.

Benediction

Go forth in the strength of God’s love and God’s promise to bring wholeness and peace to a hurting world. May the blessings of the God who has wondrously made you, redeemed you and sustains you day by day, go with you wherever you go. Amen.
