District Conferences - via Zoom

  • Southeast District Sunday, April 18th - 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm
  • Northeast District - Sunday, May 2nd - 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
District Conference will look a little different this year as you are asked to attend with the District you will be a part of beginning July 1, 2021. Not sure which District that will be, contact Ann ( or check out the Conference website under Districts:

178th Iowa Annual Conference Session - June 4-6, 2021
Similar to 2020, much of the Iowa Annual Conference will be held virtually through the Zoom Webinar platform.

The Pre-Conference Manual will be available after April 30, 2021.

Three Conference Orientation sessions will be held to help acclimate and guide members through using the Zoom Webinar platform and Option Technologies voting system.

  • Saturday, May 15, 2021 - 9:00-11:00 AM
  • Thursday, May 20, 2021 - 7:00-9:00 PM

Sunday, May 23 - 2:00 pm - Town Hall Zoom meeting

Friday, June 4 - 9:00 am - Clergy Session
Friday, June 4 - 7:00 pm - Laity Session

Saturday, June 5 - 9:00 am - Bishop Laurie Haller will call the annual conference members to order to begin the two-day session. The 2021 theme is, Connected in Christ: Watching Over One Another in Love. 
Saturday’s session will include the Treasurer’s report, Iowa United Methodist Foundation report, and general legislation. 

Sunday, June 6 - Session will include a worship service led by Bishop Laurie, Episcopal address, Fixing of Appointments, General Conference 2020 Delegation report, Anti-Racism Task Force report, closed churches, general legislation, nominations final ballot, and reconciling motions. The Memorial and the Retirement services will be pre-recorded and shown after the end of each day’s business. 

Saturday, July 10 - The Ordering of Ministry Service will be held in person, following state pandemic guidelines, at the Ankeny First United Methodist Church Christian Life Center.

Another Set of Eyes - May 1 deadline

The Another Set of Eyes has been updated and can be found on the Forms page on the Conference website. The Form is due into your District office by May 1st. Please remember that all clergy currently serving a church must complete the Another Set of Eyes.

School for Lay Ministry - Developing Lay Leadership for the 21st Century

The School for Lay Ministry of the Iowa Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church is a three-year program to facilitate the growth of Iowa United Methodist Churches and their Christian ministry by providing an alternative, supplemental source of educated leadership to local congregations and communities.   READ MORE
