Marcus, Grace UMC (303 E Fenton St, Marcus, Iowa)
What is an incubator? “An environment to prepare for new life.”
The purpose of this incubator is to provide pastors and local church leaders with relationships and resources to help them be successful in making disciples of Jesus Christ and transforming our communities.
It will be a time to lift up our overall district vision and share how the individual teams in each church fulfill that vision of helping each other see Jesus and become more like him. We will gather as a large group and then there will be two breakout sessions offered. Each session will be presented once. Pastors and church leaders can choose from these options :
Break-Out Sessions
First Session:
Staff Parish Relations Committee- led by Tom Carver. For SPRC members and pastors to help each other become more like Jesus using the Discipleship Wheel as a tool.
Board of Trustees – led by Merrill Muller. For members of the trustees to provide the nuts and bolts of caring for the property of a local church.
Funding Ministry: Stewardship, Finance, and Endowments – led by TBD. Develop a strategy for funding ministry, and dive into the details with others.
Adaptive Leadership through Loving, Learning, and Leading – led by the District Operational Team. Learn how the district is approaching leadership in a changing world, and see how you can do this in your church.
Second Session:
Local Church Visioning – led by Karen Day, District Lay Leader and others. For pastors, lay leaders and church council/board members to share stores about visioning events and churches who are intentional about casting a vision. Learn about planning to lead one in your local church.
Simplified Leadership Structure – led by Ryan Christenson. Explore options for structuring your leadership to achieve your mission and vision.
Empower the People - led by Ken Miller & Dean Gabhart. Learn more about opportunities for laity to grow in faith and service through Lay Servant Ministry, Walk to Emmaus, Volunteers in Mission, Disaster Response Training, and the Iowa School for Lay Ministry.
Fresh Expressions– led by Elad Shapira. Where is everyone? They don’t seem to be in our churches. In this session we will hear about fresh ways to think about revitalizing congregations, starting new ministries, as well as have time to work through some ideas for our individual contexts.
Attached you will find a poster and bulleting inserts to share with your congregation!
