The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Opens Registration for Two Conferences April 4 - 5 LEAWOOD, KS – The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection is excited to announce registration is now open for two conferences hosted by ShareChurch Conferences on April 4 – 5, 2019. Participants may select to attend either The Art of Radical Hospitality Conference or the Empowered: A Model of Care Conference. The conferences are hosted concurrently at Church of the Resurrection’s Leawood, KS Campus and feature combined opening and closing sessions, with distinctive sessions in between. Churches are encouraged to send their teams dedicated to welcoming & hospitality AND/OR congregational care. Opportunities for fellowship and networking between participants of both conferences are available during meals, breaks and building tours. The Art of Radical Hospitality: The new conference, led by Executive Director Debi Nixon and Senior Director Yvonne Gentile, is focused on the ministry of welcome and intentional hospitality. Participants will learn key principles and methods to create a culture of radical hospitality, including attracting visitors, effective follow-up and volunteer training. Pastors, staff and volunteers engaged in the ministry of welcome, hospitality, visitor care, outreach, connections or membership are all encouraged to attend. Empowered: A Model of Care: Previously known as the Congregational Care Ministry Seminar, this conference leads participants through congregational care best practices and standards based on the model of care developed at Church of the Resurrection. Pastor Wendy Lyons Chrostek, Senior Director of Congregational Care, leads the training. Churches are encouraged to send pastors and staff to learn how to organize, plan and implement care and send volunteers to become equipped to provide care on behalf of the church as commissioned Congregational Care Ministers.
