Howard Zehr Restorative Justice Book Study
Monday's beginning February 8, 2021 - March 22, 2021, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
We are offering another series of classes on Monday evenings through this Little Book of Restorative Justice by Howard Zehr who was a founder of the movement. Many states including Iowa have developed programming for some of their justice systems from this model. When both the victim and the offender agree to follow this model, many county attorneys are open to this kind of model as an alternative to normative justice systems. This model of justice puts the focus on the harm that has been caused to the victim rather than what the offender owes to the system in the way of fines or time in jail or prison. The victim’s needs are primary with the needs of the offender and of the community also considered as stakeholders in a circle process. Women at the Well is beginning with these classes to lay the foundation for other trainings focused on walking with people as they try to navigate the Iowa justice system and following in county jails, reentry, and reentry housing.
