BASIC CLASS: for lay servant—for those who are beginning the call of Servant hood. This class will be taught by Neil Peck.  Please bring your Bibles and paper and electronic devices if you wish.  If you chose to take this course there is a Pre-Course Assignment, please write why you are beginning this journey and what you expect to do with it.  We will share those in class.
Lay Servant Ministries Basic Course Participant's Book
Brian Jackson, Sandy Jackson
ISBN #978-0-88177-626-3

DANCES WITH WORDS: This class will be taught by Ken Miller and deals with preparing and speaking.  It is a very interesting and sometimes challenging class.  Ken does an excellent job of teaching and making this a fun time.  He asks, if you chose to take this class, for some pre-course work.  Prepare a story to share of approximately 5-15 minutes, factual or not, personal or not, scriptural basis or not, BUT, pointing to a scripture of your choosing. You will share those stories in class.
Dancing with Words: Storytelling as Legacy, Culture, and Faith
Ray Buckley
ISBN #978-088177-407-8

SPIRITUAL GIFTS: This class will be taught by Ann Trimble-Ray and we are blessed to have her teaching.  Ann is the District Lay Leader and we thank her for taking time out of her schedule to teach.  This course helps participants understand spiritual gifts and how the church can use them to fulfill its mission and ministry. Participants will also learn what it means to be a spiritual leader and will be equipped to lead others in exploring and using their spiritual gifts. Participants are asked to purchase and read Each One a Minister before we gather on September 11 and begin contemplating their own spiritual gifts. Participants are asked to bring a 1 to 2 page reflection paper (informal) on their own spiritual gifts and how they are being used for making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Direct questions to Ann Trimble-Ray at anntrimbleray@gmail.com or 712-660-1152.
