Learn and engage in transformational ways with those in poverty going beyond food pantries. Rev. Brian Combs is a graduate of NC State and Emory University.  While no degree was awarded, his most formative education came from attending integrated public schools, washing dishes at Camp Tekoa, thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail, and incarnating on the streets of poverty.

On the gritty corners downtown, he felt a calling to urban ministry after encountering the living Christ among the most cast aside and dismissed. Not wanting to be Jesus, but rather welcoming him in brothers struggling with substance abuse and sisters surviving with mental illness, he helped found Haywood St., a United Methodist mission congregation located in the homeless corridor of Asheville.

This is a hybrid event. You may attend this event in person or at Immanuel UMC, in Des Moines, IA or virtually. As of now masks will be required per CDC guidelines. CEU's will be available for those that attend the whole event either in person or on zoom. The cost for this event is $30 which gives you the ability to watch re-watch the recording of the event for a limited time following the event.
