Roosevelt André Credit is a force of God’s love and exuberance and he is coming to bless us in concert at Saturday, Feb. 11, 4:00 pm at First United Methodist in Des Moines, 1001 Pleasant St. “Roo”, a friend of First Church’s music director Ben Allaway for over 30 years, will also bring his inspiring, high-energy gifts and talents to leading worship Sunday the 12
th at 10:30 a.m.
You will surely know you have worshipped God by the end of the service!
A veteran of Broadway productions of
SHOWBOAT, THE GERSHWINS’ PORGY AND BESS, and the recent Metropolitan Opera production of
PORGY AND BESS, “Roo” also sang throughout the soundtrack of the Best Film Oscar-winning
TWELVE YEARS A SLAVE, which also used an original song of his. His
Lapelle Choir backed him up recently at
OUTDOORS AT LINCOLN CENTER.
“LIFT EVERY VOICE IN LOVE” will celebrate the broad range of the
African-American musical legacy with a touch of love on Valentines weekend. Roo will be joined by his accompanist
Margaret Katherine Jellison of Bangor, Maine, Minneapolis-based
violinist Lara MacLean, the new
First Church Gospel Choir, which includes our Choir plus members of the community, and
The House Wide Open Band.
