Rev. Tom Barnard

It has been several years since we have had any in-person training for our local churches. The now combined circuits of the NE Pictured Rock District has taken the challenge to do training for our churches. We discussed several topics that would help in our mission to serve our communities and the kingdom. We decided to start from the top of the local church food chain. That is how the church itself is formed to do the work of the kingdom.
We will be spending the afternoon of Super Bowl Sunday learning about the One Board System of running the local church. Most of our churches would benefit from this form of organization. Secondly, we will be teaching on the importance of the agenda for ALL meetings, how to set up an agenda, and how to make an agenda work in every meeting.

Here is an overview statement of Rev. Dr. Jaye Johnson’s presentation:
Creating Momentum Through Effective Leadership Structures –
The traditional organizational structure of our churches with an Ad Board, Trustees, SPPRC, Finance committee, and a plethora of other committees can hinder missional alignment, slow decision-making, and work against creating momentum for change. This alternative structure makes spiritual leaders who disciple others, help a church’s mission focus, streamlines decision-making, and free people from committee meetings so that more people can use their time in hands-on ministry. Today will be a brief introduction to the single board model. If your congregation is interested, contact Jaye to schedule a complete workshop.

This is an important re-start for our district training. By the way, the Super Bowl doesn’t start until 5:30 PM so you will not miss one snap and in the meantime learn how you just might improve the way you form and run the church that is so important to all of us.

We hope to see you there!
