This important event will feature a discussion with Meko Peled. Miko's grandfather was a signer of Israel's independence documents; his father was an Israeli hero in the 1948 war and a general and leader in the 1967 war. Miko himself was a soldier in a Special Forces unit of the Israeli Defense Forces. In 1997 his niece was killed by two young suicide bombers and in the months and years that followed, he traveled throughout the Occupied Territories in search of answers to these tragic deaths.
He found many answers in the lives and experiences of an occupied people. Today he works in solidarity with Palestinian and Israeli peace activists seeking to end the occupation and work for a just peace in the land of Palestine. He is the author of The General’s Son; Journey of an Israeli in Palestine
and Injustice: The Story of the Holy Land Foundation Five.
