Conference elects delegates

Iowa Conference elected its delegates and alternates to the 2016 United Methodist General Conference and North Central Jurisdictional Conference in the course of twelve ballots.
 
The 2016 General Conference  will be held May 10– 20 in Portland, Oregon.  Six clergy and six laity will represent Iowa at the every-four-years worldwide gathering.   Clergy delegates are: Lilian Gallo Seagren, Katie Dawson, Brian Milford, Barrie Tritle, Diane Wasson Eberhart, and Thomas Shinkle.  Lay Delegates are: Phil Carver, Norma Morrison, Becky Hereen, John Rothlisberger, Darcy Rubenking, and Craig Scott.
 
The 2016 Jurisdictional Conference  will be held July 13-16 in Peoria, Illinois.  The six clergy and six laity delegates who will attend the General Conference will be part of the delegation to the Jurisdictional Conference as well as six additional clergy and laity.  The six additional clergy are: Sean McRoberts, Mike Morgan, Lanette Plambeck, Tom Carver, Nate Nims, and Brian Oliver.  The six additional laity are: Margaret Borgen, Lindsay Drake, Kae Tritle, Marcia Young, Richard Hofmeyer, and Lisa Larson.
 
In addition to the twelve elected clergy and twelve elected lay delegates six clergy and six laity six more clergy and six more laity were chosen as alternate members of the delegation.  The six clergy are: Heecheon Jeon, Scott Kisker, Beverlee Bell, Steve McElroy, Deborah Wise, and John Louk.  The six laity are: Beverly Spencer, Dorothy Highdon, Lauren Wise Loonsfoot, Ryan Russell, Nitza Dovenspike, and Noreen Kahler-Miller.
 
The first elected delegate was Phil Carver, who was elected on the first of the twelve ballots and will serve as the chair of the delegation.
 
The first clergy and first elected laity elected to the Jurisdictional Conference will also serve as alternates to the General Conference.
