Ames, Calvary United Methodist Church Healthy Church Initiative – “The Parking Sticker Story”

July 09, 2015

Calvary United Methodist Church in Ames has been working faithfully through the Healthy Church Initiative process, and it is bearing fruit!  Having finished the Leadership Development training, and preparing for a Consultation on September 25-27, 2015, they are reaching out to the community in a creative way!

With the major street in front of their church being closed for months for repair, the residents in that neighbourhood had no place to park their cars.  Ames, Calvary reached out in love, and wrote a letter to everyone living on that street.  They announced a time when they would hand out special parking cards that can be placed on the windshield of the car.  During these months, these cars will be welcome to park in Calvary’s spacious lot, despite the closure of the road.  When the repairs are finally complete this fall, there will be a grand celebration with food and entertainment, and everyone from the neighbourhood is invited!

Thanks to the Healthy Church Initiative leadership team, and Pastor Immanuel Dass for this inspiring story!
