Announcing an opportunity to participate in WondrHealth (formally Natura)(y Slim), a health-full eating/activity and behavioral skills program for improving well-being and weight. This all-digital health-fullness program is being offered to our clergy and their spouses who are currently participating in our health plan.
With the Wondrhealth program, you have the opportunity to learn how to lose weight and improve your health while eating your favorite foods—at NO FINANCIAL COST. We are requesting that the participants share their experience with the Well-Being Coordinator and help us evaluate further offerings of this program.
What is Wondrhealth?
Wondrhealth is an online program in which you learn the skills you need while eating normal food, lose weight, and reduce your risk of chronic conditions like type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome and heart disease. It will also help you with other health-full strategies such as stress management and improved sleep habits.
This opportunity is aimed at persons whose BMI is 30+ or 25 with 1 other health risk. The program consists of weekly videos for 10 weeks, bi-weekly videos for another 2 ½ months, and then monthly videos for 6 months. This gives you lots of re-enforcement in practicing the new skills. There is also real time, on-line social media and chat rooms to connect with other persons using Wondrhealth for supportive community as you learn and practice the life-style behavior changes.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Wondrhealth is a program that teaches you skills that assist with achieving lasting weight loss and health-full habits while eating your favorite foods. There’s no counting points or calories, eating boring meals, or spending money on specialty diet food. In the program, you’ll also learn how to sleep better and stay on track during special occasions like parties, holidays, and vacations. You will learn to gage your hunger, be motivated to increase your activity, and cope with stress. You will be encouraged to alter your eating patterns.
- We’re offering Naturally Slim to you and your spouse (as long as they’re enrolled in the IAUMC medical plan) at no cost. When applying for the program, spouses will need to fill out a separate application. Spouses not on the conference health plan can participate and learn with the participant by accessing the program on the participant’s e-mail. (Kae did this with her spouse)
- Be ready and commit to watching the on-line videos each week for both effective learning and practice of the skills. For the first 10 weeks, a series of short videos are presented totaling approximately 20-30 minutes each week. You will receive an e-mail when the new videos are available. This is the educational component to help you become aware of your hunger and eating patterns, and to learn how to cope with stress and meeting your vital needs. Different strategies will be presented regarding if you are truly hungry, eating from habit or to cope with emotions.
- The program is video-based and all online. You will need reliable internet service. The program can be accessed using any internet-connected device; such as a smartphone, tablet, or computer.
