Rev. Paul Smith to become South Central Superintendent

January 14, 2013

Bishop Julius Calvin Trimble has announced that the Rev. Paul Smith will become Conference Superintendent for the South Central District, beginning July 1, 2013. He will succeed the Rev. Bill Poland who will become Assistant to the Bishop for Administration on that same date.

Rev. Smith has served as the Field Outreach Minister for the South Central District since 2007. Prior to that time he served Chariton, Christ-Norwood-Pleasant Prairie; Faith United Parish: Cincinnati-Jerome-Mystic-Numa-Unionville; Ackley-Geneva, and Ottumwa-Wesley.

“Rev. Paul Smith brings the gifts for ministry that the South Central Superintendency Committee lifted as critical for a new District Superintendent,” Bishop Trimble said. “His passion for local church renewal and equipping lay and clergy for ministry has been demonstrated in his role as Field Outreach Minister and as an effective local church pastor.”

“I am confident that you will join me in congratulating Paul on his upcoming appointment and lifting Kathy and Paul in prayer in this time of transition,” the Bishop concluded
