The Board of Church and Society of The United Methodist Church is conducting a peace essay contest and will present three $500 scholarships. The contest is open to students who are high school junior or seniors during the current school year (2012-2013) and who live in Iowa or attend an Iowa high school.
Students need not be members of an United Methodist Church or any other religious body.
The topic for this years contest is "The Best Response For Our Government When It Sees Human Rights Violations Taking Place In A Foreign Country.
Essays must be less than 1,000 words and sent to Paul Linn ([email protected] )by e-mail before March 22, 2013. Also include a brief summary of activities that you have participated in your school or community including efforts for social justice.
Awards will be presented during Iowa Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church in June of 2013 in Des Moines, Iowa.
