Bishop Announces new appointment for Rev. Eric Guy

Bishop Julius Calvin Trimble has announced that the Rev. Eric Guy will be appointed to become the Pastor of First United Methodist Church, Des Moines, beginning Juoly 1, 2013.

Rev. Guy is currently the Leadership Development Minister for Young Adult and Generational Ministries.   In that role he has guided the core team for the annual Youth Strike for Christ, and worked with the Conference Council on Youth Ministries, Older Adult Council, Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministries, and Board of Ordained Ministry among other responsibilities.  A graduate of  Central College in Pella and Candler School of Theology in Atlanta, and ordained as an Elder and elected into full Conference membership in 1998, he has been a member of the Iowa Annual Conference Staff for 12 years.  He previously servied as the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries for the Conference Council on Ministries

Rev. Guy's ministry has also included being the pastor at Rippey-Perry-Fairview.

Rev. Karen Dungan, Assistant to the Bishop for Connectional Ministries, said of Rev. Guy, "For over a decade Eric has given faithful service to the church through his support of youth and young adult ministries.  While we will miss him at the Conference Center in his role as a Leadership Development Minister, we wish him well in his new ministries."
