Members of the 2013 group of retirees gathered at the Conference Center to reminisce, worship, and hear detail about their health and pension benefits. The group of nearly forty clergy and spouses also shared a lunch with members of the Bishop’s Appointive Cabinet and other Conference leaders.
Following the Wednesday morning Chapel service, at which Rev. Denis Tevis, North Central Superintendent, preached, Mr. Ivory Rooks, representing Extend Health, spoke about the Medicare health plan during a morning question and answer session. After the fellowship lunch Manuel Varagas, from the General Board of Pensions and Health Benefits spoke about retirement benefits and how they are calculated. The General Board’s vision is “to enable our participants to be secure in life’s transitions. He described retirement provisions and plans, tax options available to clergy, LifeStage retirement income, financial planning services, and the comprehensive protection plan.
