In Nigeria"where there is no doctor"

October 10, 2013

In Nigeria there is little available health care available to villagers who live in rural areas.  No medical care means poor health, which can lead to death.

Health care professionals are invited to join a medical work team to Nigeria in mid June as part of our Iowa Nigeria Partnership.  Working with the Rural Health Program of the United Methodist Church of  Nigeria medical people will assist with the free cataract surgeries, the dental clinic, see patients in the outlying clinics, distribute bed nets,  perform necessary surgeries at the church hospital and offer “how to” topics on a variety of medical issues.

We seek all health care specialties for this team.  Plans are to leave about June 11 and return June 27/28.  The trip cost is approximately $3,000 per person from Des Moines.

An informational meeting is scheduled on Sat. Nov. 9 from 10 AM to 2:30 PM at the Iowa Conference Center, 2301 Rittenhouse St., Des Moines.  Please contact Beverly Nolte, 515 266 4186, beverly.nolte@gmail.com about your participation at this meeting and/or on the June 2014 trip.
