Midwest Tornadoes - Latest Update

November 21, 2013

On, Sunday, November 17, 2013 more that 45 (and perhaps as many as 60) Tornados raced thru Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Michigan and Wisconsin.

Hardest hit is the State of Illinois and the town of Washington (10,000 pop.)  Many other communities and rural areas have significant damage.

At least 5 deaths and as many as 300 people are injured along with hundreds of homes destroyed. Thousands are without power.

John and I have been in contact with the Disaster Response Coordinators from Illinois and Indiana and with Lorna Jost with the North Central Jurisdiction

AT THIS TIME NO VOLUNTERS ARE NEEDED

Illinois is in the process of accessing the needs and Indiana has a plan and their response is in operation.  In the days to come there will be opportunities for us to do to help our neighbors to the east.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TODAY:

• PRAY for those affected, and those responding.  It is by prayer that we unleash God’s power for one another.
• Financially support the work of UMCOR and United Methodist Disaster Response Efforts.
• Make Clean-Up Buckets and Health/Hygiene Kits.

As we know more details, we will share them with you

Blessings
