King day celebration in Wisconsin to feature sermon by Bishop Trimble

January 15, 2014

A Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration hosted by Bishop Jung for the Wisconsin Conference will be held on Monday, January 20, at 7 pm at Albright UMC, 5555 W. Capitol Dr., Milwaukee WI 53216. Bishop Julius Trimble will be preaching at the event, which will focus on a worship service celebrating Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and what we are doing to live out his vision.

A combined choir from Milwaukee area United Methodist Churches will rehearse at 6:15 pm, before the celebration begins, to be ready for their part of the service.

Youth and young adults will lead the multicultural worship; special music will be provided by local members of the Marquette University Gospel Choir; and an offering for Rising Sun Camp, one of our justice ministries that serves school-age children who have an incarcerated parent, will be taken.
Donations cover nearly all the cost of camp for these children, and all churches, even those who cannot attend in the celebration, are encouraged to participate by sending a love gift for Rising Sun Camp to the Conference treasurer’s office. Child care will be available during the event, and the District UMW members will provide refreshments afterward. The church parking lot is medium-sized; additional parking is available on the north side of Capitol Drive, in the lot across the street from the church.
