Former Iowa bishop to speak at ethics and criminal justice event

COLUMBUS, Ohio (UMNS) – "Christian Ethics and the Crisis in U.S. Criminal Justice" will be the focus of this year's Sprague Lecture Series from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 8 at the University Plaza Hotel and Conference Center in Columbus.

Speakers include Michelle Alexander, author of "The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness"; James Logan, author of "Good Punishment? Christian Moral Practice and U.S. Imprisonment"; and Ohio West Area Bishop Gregory V. Palmer. 

The event is sponsored by the Sprague Scholar-in-Residence Fund at North Broadway United Methodist Church, Methodist Theological School in Ohio, Columbus Mennonite Church, West Ohio Black Methodists for Church Renewal, West Ohio Methodist Federation for Social Action, East Ohio Methodist Federation for Social Action, United Theological Seminar.
