Board of Church and Society conducting essay contest

The Board of Church and Society of the united Methodist Church is conducting an essay contest and will present five scholarships ranging from $1000 to $200. 

The contest is open to students who are high school juniors or seniors during the current school year (2013 - 2014) and who live in Iowa or attend an Iowa high school. 

Students need not be a member of an United Methodist Church or any other religious body. 

"Causes and results of inequiitable distribution of wealth, opportunity or education" is the title for this year. 

Essays must be 1,000 words or less and sent to Paul Linn in "word" at [email protected] on or before March 21, 2014. 

Include your name, address, phone number, name of your high school, name of your couselor and a brief sumary of activities that you have participated in your school or community includluding efforts for social justice.  60% will be based on the essay, 30% on justice efforts,  10% will be based on diversity (race or handicaps).  Awards will be presented during Iowa Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church June 2014 in Des Moines, Iowa.
