This last weekend (May 31/Jun 1) was our kickoff for both Pictured Rocks and Wesley Woods (Okoboji’s will be June 13) and both went really well.

It was a blast with so many young people and their families on hand, and the excitement kept going all through the time they were there.

There were awesome activities and times of sharing and great food, and even moms and dads had great fun. In fact we had people we had never seen before, which is great.

Now you may be asking yourself, “Gosh, I missed that, and I really wanted to come and see camp!”

Well, we want you to know that if you’re a parent or youth, and you didn’t get a chance to get to one of our kick-offs, don’t worry, just give us a call and we can make sure you get the opportunity to stop and just see one of our camps.

We understand that it’s important for parents and children to get a feel for what camp life is like and to be able to talk one on one with an Iowa UMC Camp staff member.

Also, we want every parent and camper to know that our highest priority is to have a fun and safe Christ-filled experience at all of our camps.

We do everything possible to maintain this standard, and we are American Camp Association certified which is an extensive process through which we uphold the highest levels of safety and standards in every area of our ministry operations at camp.

Not every camp has this certification, but we feel it’s important that we do and have been certified for a long time. As a parent I understand the reasons for this, and one of our primary goals is to make sure that our camps provide that safe, sacred place for every youth to feel comfortable in.

So, if you’re still thinking about coming to camp, feel free to get in touch with any person on your Iowa UMC camp team and we will share more about all the neat opportunities of faith building and fun that can come from an experience at one of our Camp sites.

Also, remember you don’t need to be United Methodist to come to one of our Camps, so if you know of any young person who is looking for a great summer camp experience, no matter what their background, give us a call, we would welcome them.  We look forward to seeing you in the following weeks, and God’s grace and blessings.

Don’t forget to stop by our booth at Iowa UMC Annual Conference this weekend
June 6ththrough the 9th!

Hey, check out our booth at Annual Conference and be sure to stop and visit.  We will have special brochures, catalogs, and flyers that will share about all 3 of our Camps.  Your Iowa UMC Camp Team looks forward to seeing and hearing from you!
