Communicating Faith in the 21st Century – Monday morning conversation

June 09, 2014

Communicating Faith in the 21st Century was the focus of a Monday breakfast jointly sponsored by the Iowa Conference Communications Ministry Team and United Methodist Communications.  Rev. Ashleigh Joyner, Assistant Director of Rethink Church led the workshop that was attended by some 40 people.

Rev. Joyner spoke about the profound influence of social media.  Through a video the impact of the Facebook community, which statistically would be the third largest country in the world, was examined.  Guidelines for effective use of Twitter were offered.  Participants were also invited to talk about their needs and shared questions applicable to their own contexts.  Those at the workshop also received “Communicate Vitality – Resources from United Methodist Communications to support vital congregations.”

The “Communicating Faith in the 21st Century” was an abbreviated presentation of what will be a full-day event on September 27, which will be held at the Conference Center.  (More information will be distributed within the next two weeks.)
